Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney recently announced it has donated its former clinic building and property in Newton to South Eastern Special Education (SESE). SESE serves regional school districts in Lawrence, Crawford, Jasper, Clay and Richland Counties with a variety of special education programs and services in special needs classrooms in those districts plus other needs. The renovated clinic will serve students and staff with a more centralized location for its 11 member districts and provide a more modern location for the central office. The current SESE building located in Ste Marie was built in 1838 and last modernized in the early 1900s. Carle RMH purchased the clinic in 2011 and operated it for nearly 10 years before closing the facility in March of 2021.
