SOUTHWEST INDIANA EARTHQUAKE

A small earthquake occured Thursday afternoon in rural southwestern Indiana. The U.S. Geological Survey reports it was centered near the small town of Montezuma in Parke County north of Terre Haute. The quake happened around 3:20 p.m. EDT and registered 3.8 magnitude at a depth of 3.1 kilometers or roughly 2 miles. The Parke County Sheriffs Department reported no damages or injuries associated with the tremor. The quake could be felt as far away as Vincennes to the south.
