The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the entire WAKO listening area from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. CDT Friday. The forecast calls for hot temperatures and high humidity to combine during the advisory period to create heat index values outdoors up to 110 degrees. If you are working or spending time outdoors, stay out of the direct sun for long periods, drink plenty of fluids especially water, wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing, take frequent rest breaks, do not overexert and reschedule strenuous activities. Older people and children should be checked on regularly and children and pets should never be left unattended in a hot vehicle. People should also know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
