BAEZ LIFTS CUBS TO WIN

Javier Baez hit a two run homer in the top of the first inning Thursday night and that was enough for Kyle Hendricks and three relievers to shut out the New York Mets 2-0 at Citi-Field. The Cubs scored their runs on only 4 hits while holding the Mets to 2 hits in the win, which snapped a three game losing skid. Closer Craig Kimbrell picked up his 19th save. The Cubs were also able to salvage the finale of the four game series and improve to 39-30. They return home Friday night to open e three game weekend series with the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field. Zach Davies (4-3) is set to go for the Cubs on the mound.
