LAWRENCE COUNTY 200TH YEAR CELEBRATION

The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is planning a variety of events in early July to mark the 200th anniversary of the county. There will be four days full of activities countywide to commemorate the event and to also celebrate the Fourth of July. Friday July 2nd will feature a parade through the city of Lawrenceville with the annual city sponsored fireworks that evening at Lawrenceville High School and tailgating at Ed Loeb Field. Saturday July 3rd will feature the traditional fish fry and fireworks along with a car show at River Park in historic St Francisville. Sunday July 4th there will be the unearthing of a time capsule at 2 p.m. on the county courthouse lawn in Lawrenceville with a Delts sponsored cakewalk and open hours and refreshments at Havoline Hall following and the Sumner city fireworks display later at dusk.  Tuesday July 6th will mark the burial of a new time capsule on the courthouse lawn to be revealed in the year 2071.
