The Illinois House Wednesday passed the controversial House Bill 562 dealing with the Firearm Owner Indentification Card (FOID) program and sent the legislation to the governor. 55th District Republican State Senator Darren Bailey issued a statement afterward saying that the law abiding gun owners across his district which includes Lawrence County and the entire state of Illinois are under attack and the bill is meant to chip away at citizens Second Amendment rights under the Constitution. He went on to say that the bill increases private transfer costs and adds more liability for gun retailers in the state. Bailey called the current FOID system outdated and broken and called for it to be voided.
