The state of Illinois has moved into full reopening-Stage 5 of the Restore Illinois plan Friday. The state has eliminated all capacity limits on businesses, large scale events, conventions, amusement parks and other venues. The reopening occurs as the state reaches the lowest number of people with cases and hospitalized by COVID-19 since the pandemic began, the lowest state test positivity rate and with close to 70% of Illinois residents 18 and older receiving at least 1 dose of COVID-19 vaccine. However, the pandemic is not over and Phase 5 guidelines released by the Illinois Department of Public Health reflect that. Masks are no longer required for those fully vaccinated while unvaccinated people are asked to wear masks and social distance. Masks are still required on public transportation,  health care settings, correctional facilities and in schools.
