UNIT 10 EMERGENCY MEETING

The Red Hill Unit 10 District is being called out by the state in regard to the recent amending of it’s masking policy from mandated use to recommended use for students and staff. The Board of Education met in special emergency session Thursday night after receiving a letter from the Illinois State Board of Education saying the district was in non-compliance with state executive orders and Illinois Department of  Public Health regulations regarding masking in schools and faced non-recognition by ISBE in the future if they failed to return to compliance. Non-recognition could affect state and federal money allocations to Unit 10. After hearing from a large group of district parents and patrons, the board moved to table the matter until June and seek more information from the ISBE and IDPH regarding  their plans for reopening schools. The current policy remained unchanged.
