The Centers for Disease Control are currently investigating outbreaks of salmonella infections in multiple states across the country including Illinois and Kentucky. Around 163 people have reportedly been sickened in 43 states with no deaths reported and 34 people hospitalized. The outbreaks may possibly be caused through contact with residential poultry. Those who raise and keep chickens at their homes should follow safe health practices along with any children who come in contact with them.
