Mark McKelfresh Fleming Jr., 64, was born to Mark and Wilma Fleming on February 4, 1957, in Olney, Illinois, and passed to his heavenly home on May 20, 2021, at the Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mark graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1975 and from Northwestern University in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in political science. He was an avid basketball fan of the Lawrenceville Indians and was proud of the players he knew. After college, Mark went to Arizona, where he was a reporter and photographer for the Phoenix Gazette. He returned to Illinois in 1988 and lived at Prairie Village in Washington, Indiana, at the time of his death.

Mark is survived by three sisters, Jane (John) Rosenbohm, Jeanne (Jack) Inboden, and Janise (Mark) Chamness; and a half-brother, Jack Bramel. Mark is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Jen Rosenbohm (Chris) Beamsley, Johanna Rosenbohm, Janet Rosenbohm (Mike) Child, Heidi Christian (AJ) Deets, Jessica Rosenbohm, Tyler Inboden, and Blake (Shannon) Chamness; as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews: Anna, Zach, Cecelia, Jacob, and Owen. They loved Mark and remember his smile; his dry wit; his obsession with sunflower seeds, oranges, yogurt, and Cheerios; his photography; his appreciation of Alan Jackson music; and his rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, as well as the Illini basketball and football teams.

All who knew Mark loved his gentle manner and kindness.
