A changing of the guard for the city of Lawrenceville Thursday night as a new mayor was sworn in.  David Courtney was given the oath of office during ceremonies at City Hall. The 8 year city councilman takes over for Don Wagner, who did not run for reelection after 8 years in office. Also being sworn in to new terms in office were incumbent City Clerk Rodney Nolan, incumbent Treasurer Tommy Vaught, and incumbent aldermen Ron Waldrop and Wendell Stevens. Joining the council after being sworn in were newcomers Dawn Brewer, Theresa Green and Heather Hayes. Stepping off the council are Chris Winkles and Jan Holcomb. During the business portion of the meeting, a report was given on the City Park Pool that does have the pool opening sometime this summer after some preliminary repairs and an announcement that starting in June, Republic Services will begin collecting garbage once a week on Fridays for the entire city.
