Eloise I. Akers, age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Saturday, May 01, 2021 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois. She was born on July 24, 1933 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Lyman and Glenna (Markley) Judy. She married Richard A. Akers on October 11, 1952, and he passed away on October 25, 1987.
Eloise was a homemaker, and member of the Island Free Methodist Church. She always made everyone feel welcome, loved to tell stories, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one son, Artie Akers; six brothers, Larry Judy, Richard Judy, Robert Judy, Harold Judy, Edwin Judy, and Leslie Judy; and three sisters, Virginia Turner, Clara Brown, and Evelyn Detty.
Survivors include one son, Jimmie Akers and wife, Anita of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one daughter, Judy Clark and husband, Terry of Flat Rock, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Akers of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother, Jack Judy and wife, Bonnie of Newton, Illinois; eight grandchildren, April Ritter and husband, Greg, Dustin Akers and wife, Ann, Justin Akers and wife, Jennifer, Brad Akers and wife, Erin, Heather Doty and husband, Daniel, Nathan Clark and special friend, Shaina Rand, Corrine Cresgy, and Michele Peach; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 08, 2021 at 10:00 AM CDT at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois, and may be viewed with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/emmonsmaceysteffey. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM CDT at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Island Food Pantry or the Epilepsy Foundation.
