The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,556 new cases of coronavirus across the state Tuesday with 23 additional deaths. Good news for Lawrence County. The Health Department reported no new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday. The county case total remains stationary at 2,464 with 1 hospitalization and no new deaths. There were also no cases reported in Knox County Indiana Tuesday with the case count there remaining at 3,687 with no new deaths. Since the pandemic began here in Illinois, there have been 1,325,726 cases of the disease with 21,858 deaths. Over 8.9 million vaccines have been administered in Illinois since the vaccine rollout began and on Tuesday over 81,000 people were vaccinated at sites across the state. The LCHD is hosting a Johnson and Johnson single dose walkin vaccination clinic Wednesday April 29th from 2 until 5 p.m. at the LCHD Main office on US 50 West of Lawrenceville near the country club. No appointments are neccessary. The latest figures indicate that a little over 21% of the Lawrence County population had been vaccinated.
