Ronald Keith Negley

Ronald Keith Negley, age 70, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on June 05, 1950 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Lowell K. and Roberta (Armstrong) Negley.

Ron was a 1968 graduate of LTHS, and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Illinois University. He was the Deputy Lawrence County Clerk in Will Gibson’s office. His prior work history included being the office manager at Sheehan Pipe Line Construction Company, as well as a teacher and assistant principal at Parkview Junior High School. His memberships included the Illinois National Guard, First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville, Elk’s life member, and American Legion. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed watching baseball and basketball. He was very active with the church, where he held various committee positions and played the organ and piano for the First United Methodist Church Sunday Night Singspiration.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include one brother, Phil Negley and wife, Luanne of Bridgeport, Illinois; two nieces, Lauren K. Gullett and husband, Riley and Megan E. Brooks and husband, Bobby; one great-niece, Lela Marie Gullett; as well as several cousins.

Graveside services will be conducted at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville or the Arthritis Foundation. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
