Kenneth ‘Chopper’ Earl Dillon

Kenneth ‘Chopper’ Earl Dillon, age 71, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Kindred Hospital in West Palm, Florida. He was born on February 15, 1950 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana, to Earl and Mary June (Neighbors) Dillon. He married Jan Weger in September, 1971, and she survives.

Chopper graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1968, and later graduated with an Associate Degree from Olney Central College in 1971. Chopper worked several years at the Texaco Refinery, and later at the Indian Refinery in Lawrenceville. He then worked as a Construction Piping Superintendent for many years. He was a member of the Elks and Moose Lodges for several years.

Chopper enjoyed boating, fishing, and 4-wheeling, but most of all loved spending time with his family, including his two grandchildren, Jake and Taylor. He enjoyed taking them boating, tubing, fishing, and riding ATVs. He loved making their tube-rides a challenge. He and his wife, Jan, were married 49 years, and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in September, 2021.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Mary June Dillon.

Surviving family includes: his wife, Jan Dillon; one son, Kurt Dillon and wife, Amanda Dillon and their two children, Jake and Taylor of Lawrenceville, Illinois; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Stacie Gray of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Ann Weger of Plano, Texas.

A celebration of life will be conducted in Kenny’s honor at a later date. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the local arrangements.
