109th District Republican State Representative Adam Neimerg announced this week that his legislation to permit the display of the United States motto “In God We Trust” by public school districts inside or outside their buildings has passed out of the Illinois House in Springfield and now moves to the State Senate. It is non-binding according to the first term legislator and puts the decision in the hands of the local districts. Neimerg pointed out that several other states have voted recently to allow or require the motto to be posted in their public schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Dakota and Tennessee.
