The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there were 3,170 new cases of coronavirus across the state Thursday with 33 additional deaths. One of those deaths in the area in Effingham County where a female in her 60s succumbed to the disease. The Lawrence County Health Department reported no new cases Thursday with the case total remaining at 2,463. 6 cases are still active and there are 2 hospitalizations with no new deaths. There were 4 new cases Thursday in Knox County Indiana with the case total there increasing to 3,674 with no new deaths. Overall in Illinois since the pandemic began, there have been 1,312,722 cases with 21,755 deaths. Over 8.4 million vaccinations have occurred statewide since the vaccine rollout began with over 131,000 people being vaccinated Thursday at various sites. Anyone age 18 and over locally who would like to be vaccinated can attend a Moderna Clinic Saturday from 8 until 11 a.m. hosted by the LCHD at their main office west of Lawrenceville on US 50 near the Lawrence County Country Club. People can register and make appointments via the LCHD website and Facebook page and walkins will be accepted.
