Jewel A. Piper

Jewel A. Piper, age 88, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on November 28, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Rose Allene (Heath) Wheeler. She married the love of her life and soulmate, Jack C. Piper, on February 24, 1952, and they were blessed with over 68 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on August 18, 2020.

Jewel was a beautician and also worked for nine years at Perrott’s Carpet & Design. She was a member of the Sumner United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, interior design, shopping; and she loved being with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and one brother, Jerry A. Wheeler.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Pauley and husband, Rick; two sisters-in-law Janet Ulrich and Blanche Piper all of Sumner, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jaclyn Peterson and husband, Matthew, Joanna Johnson and husband, Roger, and Matt Pauley and wife, Amelia; and eight great-grandchildren, Norah and Charlotte Peterson, Gavin Emmons, Jack, Emma, Abigail, and Ben Johnson, and Alanis McClure.

A funeral service celebrating the life of both Jack and Jewel will be conducted on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois, and may be viewed with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/emmonsmaceysteffey. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sumner United Methodist Church.
