Both the Illinois High School Athletic Association and Illinois Elementary School Association announced Monday that they are lifting the mask mandate for student athletes competing in low risk outdoor sports. In-season sports and activities affected by the new policy include baseball, softball, tennis, track and field and bass fishing. However, the new police still requires the use of masks by athletes while not actively competing and the use of masks by game officials.
