The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that Illinois Route 1 at the railroad tracks between Adams Street and Illinois Avenue in south Lawrenceville will be closed next week. The closure is scheduled for Monday April 5th through Friday April 9th. The closure is neccessary to allow CSX Railroad crews to make upgrades and repairs at the crossing location. No traffic will be permitted to cross the tracks during the repair project. Motorist are advised to be aware of the work and follow the posted detour route utilizing County Highway 9 (150N) to the Bridgeport Road (800N) and then to Illinois Route 250. Allow extra travel time and pay attention to speed limits and signs in the work zone.
