The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,404 new cases of coronavirus across the state Tuesday with 17 new deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department says there were 4 positive cases Tuesday bringing the overall county total to 2,428. 47 cases are active with no hospitalizations. 2,345 people have recovered and the deaths remain at 36. There were no new cases reported Tuesday in Knox County Indiana with the case total there at 3600 with no new deaths. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 1,241,993 cases of the disease in Illinois with 21,273 deaths. A total of 5,664, 426 vaccines have now been administered across the state with over 86,000 people receiving shots Tuesday. The IDPH says that the number of people being hospitalized and the number of COVID-19 cases has been rising statewide and as long as those two metrics are up. the state will not advance to the Bridge Phase and on to Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois Plan. Lawrence County and area residents are being urged to continue to use masks, socially distance and avoid large crowds in order to help reduce disease transmission and bring those metrics back in line.
