SOUTHERN ILLINOIS EARTHQUAKE

The U.S. Geological Survey Monday reported a 2.3 magnitude earthquake in deep southern Illinois. The quake occured near the town of Thompsonville in Franklin County. No damage has been reported from the tremor. The event serves as a reminder that an earthquake can happen at anytime and anywhere across Illinois and residents should be aware and ready if one occurs in the future.
