Both the Lawrenceville Football Indians and the Red Hill Football Salukis dropped their season opening games Saturday. Drew Howe of Flora ran for over 130 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Wolves beat the Indians 35-22 at Ed Loeb Field in Lawrenceville. That offset 291 yards passing with 3 touchdown throws by Indian quarterback Brenyn Winningham. The Newton Eagles used a strong defense to blank the Red Hill Salukis 19-0 at Chavesky Field in Newton.
