The Illinois Department of Public Health reported there were 5,773 new cases of coronavirus across the state this past weekend-Friday through Sunday-with 59 new deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department did report 2 new cases Friday bringing the county total to 2412 with no new deaths. There were 2 new cases reported Sunday in Knox County Indiana bringing the case total there to 3,590 with no new deaths. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 1,221,863 cases statewide in Illinois with 21,081 deaths. As of Sunday, the state of Illinois has reported administering 4,706,502 vaccinations. The IDPH and Governor’s Office now say that all Illinoisans will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting Monday, April 12th due to an increase in doses being sent to the state by the federal government. The state of Indiana is hoping to make all Hoosier adults eligible for the vaccine by May depending on the amount of vaccine supplied to the state by the U.S. government.
