Margaret ‘Nadine’ Wagoner Burgoon, age 93, of Lawrenceville, Illinois peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. She was born on September 12, 1927 in Flat Rock, Illinois, the daughter of Ford and Laura (Weger) Wagoner. She was a devoted mother of three and loving wife to Garrel ‘Bud’ Burgoon, Jr. for 64 years. They were married on September 10, 1949 at Pisgah Church, south of Bridgeport, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2014.

Nadine’s husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Along with her ‘oil man’ husband, Bud, they lived in many places: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Florida, and Wisconsin, before returning home to Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was a licensed beautician, a bowler, and a member of Garden Club and 4-H Club. Nadine’s mother was her 4-H leader, where she was pridefully taught to sew, quilt, and cook at an early age; and she passed these traits on to her daughters, Jill and JoBeth. In her earlier years, she was a member of the Pisgah Church; and then later on became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville.

Grandma – the definition of grace until the end. She was a quiet matriarch of her family – always carried herself with class and poise. We adored her will to keep her nails polished and her hair done – even with nowhere to go, or in case she saw ‘grandpa’. Our memories of her as children were all presented with the upmost sweetness, endearing care for us, and generosity. Her long nails for back tickles will be felt for years to come! We feel blessed she was able to know and love our babies – that provided her endless smiles and life in her last days. She will be missed, but know she lived a life well lived and loved.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and one great-grandchild, River Donaldson.

Survivors include her three children, Jill Anne (Thomas) Donaldson of Mission Viejo, California, JoBeth (Robert) McDonald of Neshkoro, Wisconsin, and Jeffrey Garrel (Jamalee Chapman) Burgoon of West Bloomfield, Michigan; one sister, Delma Carol (William) Wagoner Boyd of Atlanta, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, Ian Matthew Donaldson, Andrew Thomas Donaldson, Thomas Courtland Donaldson, Meghan Louise McDonald Murray, Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Anne McDonald Velarde, Benjamin Robert McDonald, Robert ‘Robbie’ Reid McDonald, Brianne Burgoon, Lora Ellen ‘Ellie’ Burgoon, Lillian Grace Burgoon, and Gavin Garrel Burgoon; and ten great-grandchildren, Oliver Reece, Shephard James, and River Frances Donaldson; Keaton Phillip, Graham Stuart, and Camille Ford Velarde; Barrett Garrel and Lincoln Charles Murray; and Nolan Robert and Benson Bradley McDonald.
