Over $1.6 million dollars will be available to the Lawrence Unit 20 District through federal and state COVID relief funds. The money, according to Superintendent Doug Daugherty, can be used for any COVID related expenses such as personal protection equipment, cleaning supplies and medical equipment.  It must be utilized over 2 1/2 years. Daugherty indicated that the district is looking to spend some of the funding on major heating and cooling upgrades at Parkview Junior High for air purification. The board did approve summer school for 2021 to last from June 7th through July 1st and the Parkview Promotion date of Monday May 24th at 6 p.m. After a marathon executive session lasting close to 4 hours, the board did move to accept the retirement of Terry Cochran and did approve a 3 year contract with Daugherty as Superintendent. Terms were not disclosed.
