Indiana State Police say a Washington man is in custody after leading police on a short high speed chase on I-69 late Sunday afternoon. Authorities attempted to stop a 2006 Pontiac being driven by 51 year old James Coy for a false registration. He refused to stop and accelerated to speeds over 100 mph. After about 18 miles, Coy abruptly pulled over in Daviess County and surrendered without incident. A female passenger was discovered inside the vehicle unconscious but breathing. NARCAN was administered by troopers at the scene until EMS personnel arrived. She was then taken to Daviess Community Hospital in Washington for treatment. Coy was taken to the Pike County Indiana Jail and was formally charged with Reckless Driving, Resisting Law Enforcement and Driving While License Suspended. He was being held pending bond.
