The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 5,470 new cases of coronavirus across the state this past weekend-Friday through Sunday-with 110 new deaths. The most recent Lawrence County Health Department figures show 2,350 cases locally with 10 active. 2 people remain hospitalized while 2,309 people have recovered from the disease and the death count remains at 31. Knox County Indiana reports 8 new COVID-19 cases Sunday to bring it’s total to 3,572 with no new deaths. Since the pandemic began, the IDPH has reported 1,186,696 cases with 20,516 deaths statewide. And as of Sunday, the state had administered 2,705, 934 vaccinations. The LCHD held it’s 2nd shot Moderna vaccination clinic Saturday at Lawrenceville High School and organizers say things went well with over 1000 county residents getting their final immunizations. The health department will be hosting another vaccination clinic on Wednesday of this week at it’s main office west of Lawrenceville. For more information, visit the LCHD website or Facebook page.
