The Lawrenceville Basketball Indians notched their first win of the season Wednesday night. They used a dominant third quarter during a solid second half to beat their county rivals-the Red Hill Salukis 53-35 in Bridgeport. The two teams were tied 9-9 after one quarter and 17-17 at the half before the Tribe outscored the host Salukis 20-8 in the third quarter to gain control of the game 37-25 after three and went on to improve to 1-5 with the victory. It was the first win as new Indian head coach for Ian Laughlin. The Tribe placed 3 in double figures with Ethan Kelly leading the way with 16 points, Damon Zollars added 11 off the bench and Brenyn Winningham 10. The 2-4 Salukis have lost two in a row and were shut down offensively for the second game in row with only Camren Ray hitting double figures with 10. The Salukis did win the JV contest 38-30 behind Ben Stimler’s 16 points. Both teams are back in action Friday. The Indians travel to Robinson while the Salukis remain home against Marshall.
