The Illinois Department of Public Health Tuesday reported 1,665 new and confirmed cases of coronavirus across the state with 27 new deaths. The latest Lawrence County Health Department figures show there was only 1 positive cases reported Tuesday. That brings the overall county total to 2,337 with 57 active. There are no COVID-19 hospitalizations with 2,249 recoveries. The death toll remains stationary at 31. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 1,177,320 cases of the disease with 20,330 deaths. The Knox County Indiana Health Department reported no new COVID-19 cases Tuesday. The IDPH says a total of 2,254,982 people have now received vaccinations as of Tuesday with 43,282 people getting shots on that day. The IDPH also says that it will take months to vaccinate the entire state population due to shortages of the vaccine in areas of the state and difficulties in scheduling appointments. Illinois is currently in Phase 1-B of it’s vaccination plan with people age 65 and older, healthcare workers and essential workers eligible to make appointments for vaccinations. It is anticipated that Phase 1-B will be expanded this week to include people with various underlying health conditions.
