For the past week, 55th District Republican State Senator Darren Bailey has been hinting at an important announcement he will make about the future of the state of Illinois Monday night in Effingham. It is being speculated that he will announce a run for governor in 2022 at a kickoff event from 7 until 10 p.m. at the Keller Convention Center. Bailey’s office also indicated that he will embark on a multi-day tour of the state with stops beginning after the Monday announcement. If he throws his hat into the ring, the Louisville farmer will join two other declared Republican candidates for the nomination: Schaumberg-based businessman Gary Rabine and former State Senator Paul Schrimpf.
