ADDITIONAL SNOW FORECAST

national-weather-service

The National Weather Service says that areas of light snow are expected across the WAKO listening area Wednesday and Thursday with minor accumulations. Reports indicate that heavily traveled main roads are in fair driving condition with areas of ice and snowpack while secondary roads and rural roads along with side streets and alleys in cities and towns remain snowpacked, slick, and hazardous. Some are impassable so drive and travel with caution. The conditions caused another day of school cancellations in Lawrence and Knox Counties. The Lawrence Public Library was closed and the Lawrence County Senior Centers were also closed. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger did issue a disaster proclamation for all 102 counties in response to the dangerous winter storm. The extreme arctic temperatures have added stress to utility providers across the state.
