Outgoing Lawrenceville Mayor Don Wagner gave his final “State of the City” address to the City Council during it’s regular monthly session Thursday night. The mayor described the last year as a tough one for the city under COVID-19 but they managed to pull through with efforts from the Council, city employees, the police department and the mayor himself. Wagner added that efforts will continue to make Lawrenceville a better place to live and work. Grants are being sought to fund the cleanup of old buildings, provide safe sidewalk routes to local schools and update the city infrastructure. Wagner went on to say that it was his privilege to serve as mayor. He did call for a joint meeting of the Council Utilities and Finance Committees on Tuesday February 23rd at 10 a.m. in the mayors office at City Hall. Topics of discussion are expected to be water rates, software, employee matters and the fiscal year city budget.
