DANGEROUS COLD MOVING INTO AREA

winter-weather-2

The National Weather Service is advising Lawrence County and other area residents to be prepared for extremely cold conditions this weekend into next week. Wind chills late Friday night into early Saturday will be 0 to 5 below. The coldest conditions will develop Saturday night and continue through Monday with wind chills dropping to 5 to 15 degrees below 0 during the overnight hours. These types of temperatures increase the risk of cold-related injuries such as frostbite and hypothermia. People should stay indoors when the temperature drops to dangerous levels but if you must be outdoors–dress in layers and wear insulated clothing, take breaks in warm environments and stay hydrated with water.
