The City of Bridgeport now has a new fulltime Chief of Police. The City Council met Tuesday night in regular session and after about an hour in executive session dealing with personnel emerged to approve the appointment by Mayor Michael Crask of Danny Ash as the new head of city law enforcement. Ash had been interim chief since the resignation of Scott Murray in late January. Jordan Feutz will remain on the force as full time evening officer. The city will be taking applications for a parttime certified police officer starting on February 15th and lasting through March 1st. Applications can be picked up at City Hall during regular business hours. Also City Superintendent Shannon Selby is asking city residents to not use heat during cold weather if a new city water meter malfunctions. If that occurs, Selby says people should contact the city and allow them to handle the situation. The council did approve the purchase of a new city equipment trailer through water department funds.
