The National Weather Service reports anywhere from 2 up to 5 inches of snow fell across the area from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. The snowfall caused rural and secondary roads along with streets and alleys in cities and towns to become snow packed and hazardous throughout southeastern Illinois and southwestern Indiana. The snow closed down schools including Units 10 and 20 here in Lawrence County and all schools in Knox County Indiana. Also closed-the Lawrence Public Library, Lawrence County Senior Citizen Centers, Embarras River Basin Agency and both Frontier Community College at Fairfield and Olney Central College. Republic Services has announced that trash collection in both Lawrenceville and Sumner will be delayed a day due to the weather.
