The Teutopolis inside duo of Evan Wermert and Matthew Deters were too much for the Lawrenceville basketball Indians Saturday afternoon as they dropped their season opener 76-31 at Teutopolis. The Tribe were down by only 9 22-13 after 1 quarter but the size and strength of the hosts began to take over in the second leading to a 41-22 halftime lead. The lead expanded to 61-27 after three quarters with a continuous clock running in the fourth. Wermert had 21 and Deters 13 for the Wooden Shoes while the Indians had only 1 in double figures-Hunter Scott with 10 points. T-town is 2-1 while the Indians drop to 0-1. The Indian Junior Varsity also lost handily 66-23 in their season opener with Landon Sanders, Leyton Ivers and Bryant Jenkins each with 6 points. The Indians are back in action Tuesday when they travel to Bridgeport to meet the Red Hill Salukis in a Lawrence County basketball battle.
