Authorities in Clay County Illinois report the rescue of an elderly man from floodwaters Monday morning. Emergency personnel were dispatched just after 9 a.m. to Myna Road on Ridge Road near the small town of Hord  north of Flora. The 81 year old man had attempted to cross water over the road in his pickup truck and his vehicle stalled. Initially, rescue crews could only get within 600 feet of the vehicle due to the water level and brisk current. Eventually after a couple of hours, they were able to reach the man. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for examination and observation. Authorities again warn motorists to avoid driving through flooded roadways with no way to know the water depth or amount of current.
