Talk about an angel on earth…that was Emma! She was a giver. She helped anyone she could. Including delivering “Meals on Wheels” to area senior citizens until she was 90 years old and visited those in nursing homes.

Emma was known as the Avon Lady around St. Francisville. She operated a beauty shop out of her home for many years. She also worked as a school cook for the St. Francisville High School for 20 years. She enjoyed playing cards and games…especially euchre, BINGO, and working puzzles. Apparently, she had luck on her side. She won…a lot. She had quite the green thumb and loved growing flowers and gardening. Emma was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Women’s Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and Alter Society of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Emma is survived by: five children- Nancy Walker of Decatur, Frank Ohl of Dallas, TX, Marcia Cochran and husband Bob of Harvel, Don Stangle and wife Lynn of St. Francisville, and Viola Steckler and husband Philip of Mt. Carmel: nine grandchildren- Chelsea Phillips, Chris Cochran, Janet Flesch and husband Tom, Kevin Cochran, Arron Cochran and wife Megan, Teri Todd and husband Mark, Amanda Harshman and husband Sam, Jessica Brewster and husband Jared, and Ryan Steckler: and seven great-grandchildren- Andrew and Katie Phillips, Caleb and Cameron Flesch, Emma and Noah Harshman, and Avery Brewster.

She was preceded in death by: her parents- Roy and Ida Baum: her husband- Gene Stangle: one son- Fred Ohl: son-in-law- Jim Walker: and siblings- Paul Baum and Pauline Williams.

Services will be private. Burial will take place in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Cunningham-Young Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
