UNEMPLOYMENT UP IN AREA

Unemployment levels rose from November to December of 2020 for counties in southeastern Illinois. That is according to the latest information released this week by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Joblessness in Lawrence County in November was at 5.6% and rose to 6.1% in December. Other surrounding counties also saw increases. Richland County from 4.5% up to 4.7%, Wabash County from 4.2% up to 4.4% and Crawford County from 4.65 up to 5.3%. The increases reflect the statewide upward trend over the last couple of months.
