Melvia Rose Stoltz, age 89, of Claremont, Illinois passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Helia Healthcare in Olney, Illinois.

 

She was born on May 04, 1931 in Clark County, Illinois, the daughter of Claude W. and Norma (Furman) Cox. She married Arthur (Gene) Stoltz on July 22, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 04, 1999.

 

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Kim Stoltz; two brothers: Gerald and Bill Cox; and a sister: Virginia Farlow.

 

She is survived by her daughter: Claudia Dowty and husband, Rick of Sumner, Illinois; five grandchildren: Robert Baker and wife, Lorna, Randy Baker and wife, Jana, Ryan Baker and wife, Amber, Mandy Boyd and husband, Jason, and Waymon Stoltz; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law: Virginia Cox, Belinda Potteroff and her husband, Don, Marlene Stoltz, Shelby Stoltz, and Esther Moore; and one brother-in-law: Harmon Parrott.

 

Melvia was a farm wife. She attended the Bethany Christian Church, and was a member of the Chauncey Community Club. She enjoyed delivering meals for Lawrence County Senior Citizens with her friend, Joe Longnecker. She volunteered at the Sign of the Kingdom West. She loved making ceramics for many years, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11:00am at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois and may also be viewed with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/Emmons-Macey-Steffey-Funeral-Home-Burial-Cremation-Services-241234759332208/. Burial will be in the Waggoner Cemetery north of Chauncey, Illinois.
