The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has announced that 12 state sites have now been added to the National Register of Historic Places for 2020 including one in southeastern Illinois. Upon recommendation of the State Historic Preservation Office, the Dr. Arthur Allen Home known as Allenhurst in Crawford County is now listed. The 2 1/2 story house located on the north edge of Robinson was built by Dr. Arthur Allen and his wife Annie in 1936 and is a representation of the Tudor Revival style of architecture with a steep pitched roof with cross gables, tall narrow windows and massive chimneys. The exterior also features sandstone cladding with limestone trim and false buttresses. The interior features vaulted wooden beams, original wood paneling and trim, and tile floors, radiators and bookcases.
