With COVID-19 cases continuing to rise and a shortage of personnel in it’s schools, Lawrence Unit #20 is starting the process of implementing the Emergency Volunteer Program. This Illinois State Board of Education approved program allows school districts to designate unlicensed personnel to serve as monitors to be placed in a the classroom of a quarantined teacher who is well enough to teach the class remotely. The Unit #20 Board of Education during a recent special session approved this to be implemented in emergency situations. Anyone in the community interested can visit the Unit #20 website to complete an application form. Once completed, applicants will then be contacted about additional details of the program.
