Illinois High School Association Executive Director Craig Anderson along with IHSA and Illinois Elementary School Association staff held their first meeting virtually this week with the the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Governor’s Office to discuss the resumption of high school and elementary school sports. According to a statement released after the session by Anderson, it was a good first step to finally meet and have dialogue with health officials about ways to safely conduct sports. There were no expectations of having all questions answered at just one meeting, but time is growing short and the calender shrinking for allowing all sports to be played . All IHSA and IESA sports remain on hold and next week, the IHSA Board of Directors will meet to discuss difficult decisions that may have to be made regarding seasons for medium and high risk sports.
