Thousands of Illinois residents who were convicted of lower-level marijuana charges now have clean records after Governor J.B. Pritzker issued more than 1900 pardons for those offenses. The Illinois State Police have also expunged nearly 500,000 cannabis related arrests. The pardons and expungements are part of the Illinois state law that legalized the licensed sale of marijuana that began in 2020 and reduce the impact of the states drug laws.
