The Illinois Department of Public Health reported that there were 24,441 new and probable cases of coronavirus across the state Thursday through Sunday-New Years Weekend with 398 additional deaths. Overall since the pandemic began, there have now been 979,821 cases with 16,755 deaths. The latest Lawrence County Health Department figures late last week showed 2,033 positive cases with 92 active. 2 people were hospitalized with 1,918 recoveries and there have been 23 COVID-19 related deaths. The Indiana State Health Department reported 2 new cases of the disease in Knox County Sunday bringing the county total to 2,959. Deaths remained at 38.
