The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there were 7,374 new and probable cases of coronavirus across the state Wednesday with 178 additional deaths including 1 each in Wabash and White counties here in southeastern Illinois. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 955,380 cases with 16,357 deaths across the state. The latest Lawrence County Health Department numbers show there have been 1,988 positive cases with 47 active. 2 people remain hospitalized with 1,918 recoveries and 23 deaths. The Indiana State Department of Health reported 53 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday in Knox County bringing the total there to 2,859. The death toll remains at 38. The LCHD is continuing to vaccinate local frontline healthcare workers in the first phase of the county vaccination process.
