HUMAN REMAINS FOUND

death-investigation

Authorities in deep southern Illinois say remains recently discovered could be those of a missing Harrisburg woman. The Pope County Sheriffs Department says the discovery was reported by a deer hunter and his sons in woods near the Pope-Saline county line. It is possible they could be 51 year old Kimberly Stewart-Whittington. She was reported missing in September of 2019 in the same general area but was never located. There has been no DNA analysis for confirmation yet. Police are saying that foul play is not suspected at this time; however evidence does point to the discovery being that of the missing woman. A cause of death still has yet to be determined.
