Donald Mark Barker

Donald Mark Barker, age 69 of rural Sumner, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, IN. He was born June 28, 1951 in Lawrenceville to James Dewight Barker and Mary Esther (Breen) Barker.

On September 2, 1972, Don married Linda Kay Gladish in Evansville, IN. Over their 48-year marriage, they raised three children and lived a blessed life. Don and Linda lived on the same homestead for 46 years where their children and grandchildren all lived close to as well.

Don was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church and became a Lay Speaker within the United Methodist Church. He served in that capacity for two years at Fairview United Methodist Church. In the last eight months, Don and his family gathered and had Sunday services together.

He had worked for Snap-On Tools for over 30 years until their closing. He then began working in construction for himself. Sign of the Kingdom-West in Sumner was near and dear to his heart. Don dedicated a lot of time and effort there.

Surviving family includes: his wife- Linda Kay Barker of rural Sumner: his mother- Mary Esther Henson: three children- Jeremy Barker and wife Cherie, Dalena Ralston and husband Randy, and Kayla Tewell and husband Alan all of rural Sumner: eight grandchildren- Rebecca and Rachel Barker, Reece and Whitley Ralston, and Gavin, Ellie, Alaina, and Hunter Tewell: one brother- Danny Barker and wife Mary Alice of Vincennes, IN: and two sisters-in-law- Toni Davis and husband Bill and Rosetta Custer.

Don was preceded in death by: his father- James Dewight Barker: step-father- Paul Henson: and in-laws- Tolan “Bud” and Wilma Gladish.

A graveside service will be held for Donald Mark Barker at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Moffett Cemetery. Cunningham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
