The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 20,942 new and probable cases of coronavirus across the state this past weekend from Friday through Sunday with 367 additional deaths. Overall since the pandemic began, there have now been 900,370 cases and 15,202 deaths. The latest Lawrence County Health Department figures as of Saturday show 1,722 positive cases with 318 active. 1 person is currently hospitalized while 1,382 people have recovered. A male in his 70s passed away Friday raising the death toll in the county to 22. The Indiana State Health Department reported 26 new cases Sunday in Knox County bringing the total there to 2,704 with the death rate remaining at 34. With Knox County now classified as “Red” by the ISDH for COVID-19 spread, Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes has announced updated visitor restrictions to the medical facility for both inpatient and outpatient area and physician practices starting Monday December 21st.
